Thiourea derivatives (1–38) were synthesized and evaluated for their urease inhibition potential. The synthetic compounds showed a varying degree of in vitro urease inhibition with IC50 values 5.53 ± 0.02–91.50 ± 0.08 μM, most of which are superior to the standard thiourea (IC50 = 21.00 ± 0.11 μM). In order to ensure the mode of inhibition of these compounds, the kinetic study of the most active compounds

2-iminothiazoline through the cross-dehydrogenative coupling strategy via sp2 C–Hfunctionalization has been developed employing iodine as a catalyst and dimethyl sulfoxide as an oxidant. Utility of this sulfenylation technique has been well depicted through participation of various aryl and heterocyclic thiols. Significant features of this C–Hfunctionalizationstrategy include metal-free open air reaction conditions
The synthesis of some pyridinyliminothiazoline derivatives starting from N-pyridine-N'-phenyl thiourea and alpha-halogenoacetophenones is described. The chemical structures of the compounds were elucidated. The prepared compounds were tested for antimicrobial activity. (C) 2002 Editions scientifiques et medicales Elsevier SAS. Novel 1-(2-aminopyrazin-3-yl)methyl-2-thioureas are described as inhibitors of mitogen-activated protein kinase-activated protein kinase 2 (MK-2). These compounds demonstrate potent in vitro activity against the enzyme with IC50 values as low as 15 nM, and suppress expression of TNF alpha in THP-1 cells and in vivo in an acute inflammation model in mice. The synthesis, structure-activity relationship (SAR), and biological evaluation of these compounds are discussed. (C) 2009 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.
