The developed alkylation method was applied to the preparation of hardly available 2-alkylsemicarbazides and their hydrochlorides from semicarbazide hydrochloride. This general and efficient protocol is based on preparation of acetone semicarbazone, its alkylation, and hydrolysis under mild conditions.
