  The synthesis of 1β,2β-methylene derivatives of a cortical steroid hormone and an androgen analog are described. The 1β,2β-methylene group was introduced stereospecifically by a Simmons-Smith reaction on >1-3β-ols. The properties of the cyclopropyl steroids are discussed, including some anomalous molecular rotation shifts.
