The invention provides contrast agents for optical imaging of prostate cancer in patients. The contrast agents may be used in diagnosis of prostate cancer, for follow up of progress in disease development, for follow up of treatment of prostate cancer and for surgical guidance. Further, the invention provides methods for optical imaging of prostate cancer in patients.
The present invention relates to compounds useful for detecting the activity of human aldoketoreductase 1Cs, compounds useful for competitively inhibiting human aldoketoreductase 1Cs and compounds useful for treating human aldoketoreductase 1C-related cancers, as well as pharmaceutical compositions and methods of manufacture thereof.

Provided are compositions for inhibiting a biological activity of an aldoketo reductase family 1, member C3 (AKR1 C3) polypeptide. In some embodiments, the compositions are indomethacin derivatives that are AKR1 C3-specific inhibitors. Also provided are methods for producing disclosed indomethacin derivatives that substantially lack cyclooxygenase inhibitory activity but that have AKR1C3 inhibitory activity, methods for inhibiting AKR1C3 polypeptide biological activities, and methods for treating prostate tumors in subjects.
