Abstract A series of W(IV) complexes with 2-aminoethanol and 5-bromo-, 5-chloro-, 5-methoxy-, 3,5 -dichloro-substituted salicylaldehydes is described. In the reaction of salicylaldehyde derivatives and aminoethanol with Mo(IV) or W(IV) cyanido complexes, six new salts were isolated and characterized by physicochemical measurements. Syntheses and Characterisation of Manganese(III) Perchlorate Complexes with Unsymmetrical Schiff Bases

A series of unsymmetrical tridentate dianionic Schiff bases derived from substituted salicylaldehyde and ethanol and propanolamine were prepared and characterised by elemental analyses, IR and H-1 NMR spectroscopy. The interaction of these bases with Mn(ClO4)(2).6H(2)O has been studied, leading to the preparation of manganese(III) perchlorate complexes. All the Schiff base ligands H2L yield 1:1 compounds [MnL(H2O)(2)]ClO4.nH(2)O (n = 1 - 3). The resultant complexes were characterised by elemental analyses, IR spectroscopy and magnetic measurements.
