syntheses of several N-aryl-3-amino-4-nitroisothiazol-5(2H)-imines 12 from 3, 3-diamino-2-nitro-thioacrylamides 11 are reported (Scheme 3). In polar solvents, a spontaneous isomerization of some of the prepared isothiazol-5(2H)-imines 12 yielded benzothiazoles 13 (Scheme 4). In the case of 2-alkyl-substituted derivatives of type 12, the isomerization occurred only at higher temperatures. Electronic influences
Reaction of Diphenylcyclopropenone with Nitroketeneaminals. Synthesis of 6-Amino-2-pyridones and Their m-Chloroperbenzoic Acid Oxidation to 2,3-Diphenylmaleimides
Reaction of diphenylcyclopropenone with nitroketeneaminals gave 6-amino-2-pyridones, which were oxidized by m-chloroperbenzoicacid to 2,3-diphenylmaleimides.

A new class of hydrogen bond donor catalysts based on the 1,1-diamino-2-nitreethylene scaffold has been introduced for the activation of trans-beta-nitrostyrenes toward reactions with a range of carbon-based nucleophiles, affording the corresponding adducts in excellent yields. Importantly, this new set of organocatalysts is easily prepared from commercially available starting materials in mild reaction conditions. (C) 2013 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.
