method is demonstrated by the concise total syntheses of agroclavine and elymoclavine in a divergent manner. These syntheses feature a Pd-catalyzed asymmetric allylic alkylation reaction to assemble the triyclic indole moiety, and a ring-closing metathesis reaction to form the D ring.
