    Disclosed is a method for the combined synthesis of at least two vinylic monomers, at least one of which being an acrylic compound, comprising subjecting a monoconjgated alkene-1-carboxylic compound to reaction with a C2-C4 alkene under conditions of olefin cross-metathesis. The invention is particularly useful for extracting value from protein side streams. Upon protein hydrolysis, suitable amino acids (preferably phenylalanine or tyrosine) are subjected to reductive amination so as to form the corresponding alkene-1-carboxylic acid. Preferably after esterification and separation, this is used in cross-metathesis for the concomitant production of styrene resp. hydroxy styrene, and acrylates. The invention is applicable more widely, to the synthesis of olefins on the basis of carbohydrates, naturally occurring phenolic components, natural protein resources, or amino acids obtained from fermentations.

    A rubber-reinforced structure comprises a composite member comprising a resin member and a rubber member being directly bonded to the resin member without any adhesive, wherein the resin member and the rubber member form a tire. The composite member can be obtained by bringing a resin member into contact with an unvulcanized rubber composition in the following combination, and vulcanizing the unvulcanized rubber: (i) a combination of a rubber composition containing a radical-generating agent, and a resin composition containing a thermoplastic resin having at least two active atoms (a hydrogen atom or a sulfur atom) on the average per molecule, each atom having an orbital interaction energy coefficient S of not less than 0.006; (ii) a combination of a rubber composition containing a sulfur-containing vulcanizing agent or a radical-generating agent, and a resin composition containing a resin selected from a thermoplastic resin and a resin having a crosslinkable group; or (iii) a combination of a styrene-diene-series rubber composition containing a sulfur-containing vulcanizing agent or a rubber composition containing a radical-generating agent, and a resin composition containing a polyphenylene ether-series resin.

    Resist compositions comprising as the base resin a polymer using tert-amyloxystyrene as a reactive group which is decomposable under the action of an acid to increase solubility in alkali have advantages including a significantly enhanced contrast of alkali dissolution rate before and after exposure, a high sensitivity, and a high resolution in the baking temperature range of 100-110° C. which is unachievable with tert-butoxystyrene. The compositions are best suited as a chemically amplified resist material for micropatterning in the manufacture of VLSI.

    A moisture curable polyurethane composition comprising (A) a urethane prepolymer having two or more isocyanate groups in the molecule, (B) an inorganic filler as a storage stabilizer, (C) an N-silylamide compound represented by the formula (1), (D) an epoxy resin, and/or (E) a moisture latent curing agent, and a moisture curable epoxy resin composition comprising (D) an epoxy resin, (C) an N-silylamide compound, and (E) a moisture latent curing agent. (R 1 —CONH) 4-n —Si—R 2 n (1) wherein R 1 is a hydrocarbon group having 5 to 21 carbon atoms optionally containing a heteroatom, provided that when n is 0, 1 or 2, R 1 s may be the same or different; and R 2 is an alkyl or alkoxy group having 1 to 3 carbon atoms; and n is 0, 1, 2 or 3. The moisture curable compositions are excellent in storage stability and thixotropic properties, have high curing rates at the time of working, and can give rise to cured products having excellent mechanical properties such as tensile strength.
