Difluoromethyldiphenylphosphine oxide () was synthesized from chlorodifluoromethane and diphenylphosphine oxide. Reaction of with a variety of ketones and aldehydes gave 1,1-difluoroolefins. Monofluoromethyldiphenylphosphine oxide () was also synthesized but did not give monofluoroolefins.
