An object of the present disclosure is to provide a catalyst composition enabling a modified conjugated diene-based polymer of which main chain is modified to be produced by a simple method, and a solution thereto is a catalyst composition, comprising: a rare earth element-containing compound (A) containing a rare earth element compound or a reaction product of the rare earth element compound and a Lewis base, an organic metal compound (B) represented by a formula: YR1aR2bR3c [wherein Y is a metal selected from Group 1, Group 2, Group 12, and Group 13 of the periodic table, R1 and R2 are each a hydrocarbon groups having 1 to 10 carbon atoms or a hydrogen atom, R3 is a hydrocarbon group having 1 to 10 carbon atoms, a is 1 and b and c are 0 when Y is a metal selected from Group 1, a and b are 1 and c is 0 when Y is a metal selected from Group 2 and Group 12, and a, b, and c are all 1 when Y is a metal selected from Group 13], and a compound having a polar functional group (C).
