DNA‐template‐directed synthesis approach has been developed that allows the morpholino‐nucleoside extension of a PNA primer. Equilibration of the ribonucleosides with the template–primer complex, in a non‐covalent fashion (see scheme), was shown to be essential for high selectivity. It is envisaged that this chemistry might be used to transcribe nature's genetic material into alternative abiological polymers
