    An insulating material comprising a cycloolefin polymer, specifically, an interlayer insulating material for a high-density assembly board having interlayer-connecting via holes at most 200 &mgr;m in diameter, comprising a cycloolefin polymer containing at least 50 mol % of a repeating unit derived from a cycloolefin monomer; a dry film formed from a curable resin composition comprising a polymer having a number average molecular weight within a range of 1,000 to 1,000,000 as measured by gel permeation chromatography, and a hardener; and a resin-attached metal foil obtained by forming a film of a cycloolefin polymer on one side of a metal foil. Laminates, multi-layer laminates and build-up multi-layer laminates making use of these materials, and production processes thereof.

    In the case where a polyamide is blended with a specific partially crosslinked graft-modified polyolefin elastomer obtained by dynamically heat-treating a blend of a peroxide-crosslinking olefin copolymer rubber and an olefinic plastic with an unsaturated carboxylic acid or derivative thereof, an unsaturated epoxy monomer or an unsaturated hydroxy monomer in the presence of an organic peroxide, if the graft-modified polyolefin plastomer occupies a major portion, a composition strength and the resistance against heat agin is obtained and if the polyamide occupies a major portion, a composition excellent in the impact resistance, the rigidity and the tensile strength is obtained.

    A process for producing a grafted cross-linked thermoplastic elastomer which contains at least 40 wt % of cyclohexane-insolubles, has an excellent elasticity even with a reduced rubber content, and is excellent also in strengths, coatability, and thermal adhesion to different materials such as various resins, metals and so forth, said process comprising melt-kneating a mixture of particles of a polymer composed of a crystalline of particles of a polymer composed of a crystalline olefin polymer part and an amorphous olefin polymer part with a grafting agent and a radical initiator.

    A method of making an optical resin, in which a polymerization vessel is filled with solution of a mixture including at least one kind of polymeric monomer or a sol of such polymeric monomer and at least one kind of substance whose solubility parameter and refractive index differ from those of a polymer produced by polymerization of said monomer by 7 1/2 (cal/cm³) or under and 0.001 or more, respectively, and, with heating or irradiation of rays of energy from the periphery of the polymerization vessel, polymerization reaction is caused and developed preferentially from a particular part of solution so that concentration gradient in substances different in refractive index may be caused and thus providing a refractive index continuously changing along a specific direction. The polymerization vessel may be composed of such polymer as swelling and dissolving from the inner wall of the vessel into the solution of mixture. An optical transmitter is obtained by applying thermal stretching to said optical resin after completion of polymerization reaction thereof. Further, after-treatment based on crosslinking reaction is applied to said transmitter for improvement in resistance thereof to heat.
