    An ultraviolet curable resin composition characterized by incorporating (a) 100 parts by weight of a resin composition which undergoes radical polymerization under ultraviolet light to form a cured substance, and (b) 0.5 - 20 parts by weight of a carboxylic acid vinyl ester compound having at least 2 ethylenically unsaturated double bonds. Adhesion to plastic substrates was improved without deterioration of properties of the starting resin.

    This invention relates to (1) an optical resin composition comprising Component A: a thiourethane prepolymer compound prepared by reacting a polythiol compound having at least 3 functional groups and an intramolecular sulfide bond, with a polyisocyanate compound in a molar ratio of -SH to -NCO ranging from 3.0 to 7.0; Component B: at least one (meth)acrylate compound having at least 2 functional groups; and Component C: a compound radically polymerizable with Components A and B, in 10 to 50% by weight, 35 to 70% by weight, and 5 to 30% by weight, respectively; (2) a preparation process for an optical resin by photopolymerization; (3) an optical resin; and (4) a prepolymer suitable for Component A. A composition of this invention is a novel, rapidly polymerizable composition for an optical resin. Furthermore, a resin prepared by curing a composition of this invention not only has a high refractive index and a high Abbe number, but also is excellent in transparency and optical homogeneity.

    The invention provides a biodegradable aliphatic polyester elastomer which has rubber-like elasticity, hardness of 80 or less in accordance with ASTM D 676-58T, and elastic modulus from 1 × 105 Pa to 1 × 108 Pa at 25°C, and decomposes with ease in the natural environment, under composting conditions or under hydrolysis conditions. The biodegradable aliphatic elastomer of the invention can be obtained by crosslinking aliphatic polyester containing aliphatic unsaturated polybasic acid as a polymer constituting ingredient and having a weight average molecular weight of 15,000 or more.

    A coating composition comprising a silicone resin having at least two types of fluorinated organic substituent groups and hydroxyl or monovalent hydrolyzable groups forms, through brief curing at low temperature, a uniform transparent coating having a low refractive index (e.g., below 1.42) and a high hardness as well as excellent water repellency, oil repellency, and antifouling property. Stacking the coating on a high refractive index layer results in an antireflection article having an improved reflectance.

    A multilayer laminate is composed of a transparent substrate such as glass, ceramic or plastic on which are applied, in order, a protective layer, a high refractive index layer with a refractive index of at least 1.60, and a low refractive index layer with a refractive index of not more than 1.45, each having a specific resin-based composition. The resulting films, when cured, have an excellent adhesion to the substrate and exhibit outstanding mar resistance and antireflective properties.
