  The introduction of highly reactive hypervalent iodine reagents—ethynylbenziodoxolones (EBXs)—onto peptides is described. These peptide-EBX chimeras can be used as versatile handles for peptide/protein modifications and peptide macrocyclization under mild photocatalytic conditions. The method was used to access new inhibitors of the Keap1-Nrf2 interaction.
