The magnetic properties of the iron-arsenic compounds Fe 2 As, FeAs and FeAs 2 have been studied with the Mossbauer effect of 57 Fe. Fe 2 As has a Neel temperature of 353K and its magnetic moments align perpendicularly to the c -axis. These results are in agreement with the neutron diffraction measurements. A New Layered Iron Arsenide Superconductor: (Ca,Pr)FeAs<sub>2</sub>
structure was investigated by single-crystal X-ray diffraction analysis. The structure was identified as the monoclinic system with space group P2₁/m, composed of two Ca(Pr) planes, Fe2As2 layers, and As2 zigzag chain layers. Plate-like crystals of the new phase showed superconductivity, with a T(c) of ~20 K in both magnetization and resistivity measurements.

Abstract We have studied the magnetocaloric properties of a variety of compounds, like Gd5(Si1−xGex)4 with x=0.576 and 0.5875, MnFeP1−xAsx with x between 0.25 and 0.65, RTiGe with R=Tb, Dy, Ho, Er and Tm, Ni53Mn22Ga25, Mn5Si3, and Mn1.95Cr0.05Sb. The heatcapacity of iron diarsenide has been determined by adiabatic calorimetry at temperatures from 5K to 300K. Standard molar thermodynamicfunctions have been evaluated and the values of Cp, m(298,15 K), Som(298,15 K), Hom (298,15 K), and Φom(298,15 K) are 8,519·R, 9,629·R, 1577·R·K, and 4,425·R.
