CoPn 3 (Pn = P, As, Sb), have been successfully synthesized for the first time by molten salt electrolysis. The melt for depositing CoP 3 contained CoO and (NaPO 3 ) 3 , and graphite rods were used for both anode and cathode. All experiments were run in a flowing N 2 gas atmosphere. By adjusting the melt composition, single phase CoP 3 could be prepared. Attempts were also made to deposit CoP 3 using

contains trigonal-pyramidal ψ-tetrahedra [AsO3]3−. The four crystallographically different As-atoms are arranged in monomeric units and trimeric chain fragments [As3O7]5−. The surroundings of the four cobalt(II) atoms are remarkably unequal and show tetrahedral, trigonal-bipyramidal and distorted octahedral coordinations.
