    An efficient solvent‐free method for the synthesis of various 3,4‐dihydropyrimidin‐2(1H)‐ones using TiO2 as a recyclable heterogeneous catalyst is described. Compared to known methods, satisfactory results are obtained with excellent yields, short reaction times, and simplicity in the experimental procedure.

Cu2+@MSNs‐(CO2−)2 exhibits high catalytic activity in the Biginelli reaction for the synthesis of a diverse range of 3, 4‐dihydropyrimidin‐2(1H)‐ones, under mild conditions. The anchored Cu(II) could not leach out from the surface of the mesoporous catalyst during the reaction and it has been reused several times without appreciable loss in its catalytic activity.

    An efficient and general liquid-phase synthesis of Biginelli compounds has been developed. Polyethylene glycol (PEG) bound acetoacetate reacted with urea and aldehydes under reflux or solvent-free microwave irradiation conditions to afford PEG-supported 3,4-dihydropyrimidin-2(1H)-ones. The desired 3,4-dihydropyrimidin-2(1H)-ones were cleaved from the polymer support under mild conditions in high yields

    A green and highly efficient approach for the synthesis of 3,4-dihydropyrimidine-2(1H)-one/thione derivatives is described. In this approach, the three-component Biginelli reaction between (thio)urea, methyl acetoacetate and aldehydes under solvent-free condition in the presence of chitosan-silica sulfate nano hybrid (CSSNH) as a green and heterogeneous nano catalyst affords the corresponding products in good to excellent yields and in short reaction times. CSSNH is a cheap, eco-friendly, and non-toxic nano catalyst that could be easily prepared, handled, and reused for many reaction runs without significant loss of its activity.

    or solvent-free microwave irradiation through the Biginelli three-component cyclocondensation. Compared with the classical solution-phase Biginelli reactions, the yields could he considerably improved and the reaction lime could he shortened dramatically under microwave promotion in a liquid-phase protocol. Moreover, the polymer-supported synthesis provided the target compounds in high purity.
