Heterocyclic amides of formula (1) wherein: B is selected from R4 and R 5 together are either -S-C(R 6)=C(R 7)_ or _C(R7)=C(R6)_S_; A is a pyridylene ring; m is 0, 1 or 2; n is 0 or 1; R 2 is for example selected from (I -4C)alkyl, hydroxy(l -4C)alkyl, dihydroxy(2-4C)alkyl and (1 -4C)aIkoxy(1 -4C)alkyl. or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt possess glycogen phosphorylase inhibitory activity and accordingly have value in the treatment of disease states associated with increased glycogen phosphorylase activity. Processes for the manufacture of said heterocyclic amide derivatives, intermediates in said processes and pharmaceutical compositions containing the heterocyclic amide derivatives are described.
Cross-coupling study of iodo/chloropyridines and 2-chloroquinoline with atom-economic triarylbismuth reagents under Pd-catalysis

This study describes the palladium-catalyzed couplings of iodopyridines, chloropyridines, and chloroquinoline with atom-economic BiAr3 reagents in sub-stoichiometric loadings. Mono-arylations of iodo and chloropyridines produced arylpyridines in high yields. The couplings addressed with dihalopyridines have afforded chemo- and regio-selective coupling products. Arylations of 2-chloroquinoline with different triarylbismuth reagents demonstrated fruitful coupling reactivity under the established conditions. This sumptuous study demonstrates the remarkable cross-coupling reactivity of iodo/chloropyridines and chloroquinoline with triarylbismuth reagents. (C) 2014 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.

Palladium-Catalyzed C-4 Selective Coupling of 2,4-Dichloropyridines and Synthesis of Pyridine-Based Dyes for Live-Cell Imaging
moderate to good yields. After further arylation, 21 examples of C-2, C-4 diarylated pyridines with a significant photophysical property were obtained, which were applied as pyridine-based dyes into live-cellimaging with good biocompatibility and low toxicity.
