    Two 3D Zn(II) and Pb(II) isophthalates, [Zn(ip)](n) (1) and [Pb-4(mu(4)-O)(ip)(3)(H2O)](n) (2) (H(2)iP = isophthalic acid), have been prepared under hydro(solvo)thermal conditions and characterized by single-crystal X-ray diffraction. The two complexes crystallize in different space groups (P4(3)2(1)2 for 1 and P2(1)/c for 2) and have different bridging modes of the ip ligand. The 3D framework of 1 is constructed by the interconnection of ZnO4 polyhedra via ip ligands, which represents a chiral net with PtS-type topology. In contrast, complex 2 is formed by the combination of Pb4O-cluster secondary building units and has a novel (3.4.5)(3(2).4(5).5(6).6(7).7(2)) topology, which is the first ever example of a (3,7)-connected net. Complex 1 displays a second harmonic generation efficiency of about 1.5 times that of KH2PO4. Optical properties and thermal stabilities of the two complexes have been studied. Additionally, the calculations of band structure and density of states of 1 have also been performed with the density functional theory method.

    This invention is directed to a process for preparing carbamates from an organic carbonate and an aromatic amine in the presence of a catalyst. The reaction is conducted at a temperature of at least 200°C and the catalyst is at least one member selected from the group consisting of (1) zinc or divalent tin salts of monocarboxylic acids having a pKa value of less than 2.8 other than such salts of trifluoroacetic acid; (2) divalent cobalt or trivalent cobalt salts of monocarboxylic acids having a pKa value of less that 2.8; (3) zinc or divalent tin or divalent cobalt or trivalent cobalt salts of organic materials having more than one -COOH group per molecule; (4) divalent cobalt or trivalent cobalt salts of a 1,3-diketone having from 5 to 10 carbon atoms; (5) tetravalent alkyl tin compounds or tetravalent alkyl tin oxides represented by formulas I and II: and wherein each R is independently a hydrocarbon group having from 1 to 10 carbon atoms, or a carboxylate group having from 2 to 10 carbon atoms, X is a halogen atom, x has an average value of from 1 to 5, and y has a value of from 1 to 4; and (6) an inorganic zinc compound selected from zinc carbonate, zinc sulfide, and zinc oxide.

    The present invention relates to a method for preparing an organic zinc catalyst used in the synthesis of a polyalkylene carbonate resin, an organic zinc catalyst provided therefrom, and a method for preparing a polyalkylene carbonate resin using the catalyst. The organic zinc catalyst according to the present invention includes a predetermined amount of Zr on the surface through a simple process, and thus can exhibit improved catalytic activity as compared to a conventional catalyst in the polymerization process for preparing a polyalkylene carbonate resin.

    A thermoformed, tamper-resistant pharmaceutical dosage form comprises: a) a pharmacologically active ingredient; b) a polyalkylene oxide having a weight average molecular weight of more than 200,000 g/mol; and c) a zinc component, wherein the content of said zinc component is at least 1 ppm, relative to the total weight of the pharmaceutical dosage form. When the pharmacologically active ingredient is effective against pain, the pharmaceutical dosage form may be used in a method of treating pain. When the pharmacologically active ingredient has abuse potential, the pharmaceutical dosage form may be used in a method of reducing the incidence of the abuse of said pharmacologically active ingredient.
