    A molded antimicrobial article comprises an infiltrated antimicrobial agent which forms independent phases of 0.01 µm or more in shorter diameter in the molded article. It is preferable that the antimicrobial agent is a pyridine based antimicrobial agent with a molecular weight of 200 to 700 and an inorganic property/organic property value of 0.3 to 1, and that 50% or more of the antimicrobial agent is infiltrated in a depth range of 0.5, preferably, 1 µm or more from the surface of the molded article, or that 30% or more of the antimicrobial agent is infiltrated in a depth range of 2 µm or more from the surface of the molded article. It is also preferable that the molded article is fibers, that the surface area used per 1 g of fibers is 0.1 m2 or more, and that the synthetic fibers are a colored antimicrobial fibrous product. The molded antimicrobial article of the present invention can be obtained, for example, by immersing a fibrous product in a dyeing liquid containing a pyridine based antimicrobial agent with a molecular weight of 200 to 700, an inorganic property/organic property value of 0.3 to 1.4 and an average particle size of 2 µm or less, and treating simultaneously with dyeing under pressurization, or by applying a liquid containing a pyridine based antimicrobial agent with a molecular weight of 200 to 700, an inorganic property/organic property value of 0.3 to 1.4 and an average particle size of 2 µm or less to a fibrous product by padding or spraying, and heat-treating it at 160 to 200°C in dry or wet state.

    An antibacterial composition containing an organic antibacterial agent and an inorganic antibacterial agent is provided. Zirconium phosphate having supported thereon silver or copper or a salt thereof may be used as the inorganic antibacterial agent, and 2-mercaptopyridine-N-oxide sodium, carbendazim (methyl 1H-2-benzimidazole carbamate), or thiabendazole (2-(4-thiazolyl)-1H-benzimidazole) may be used as the organic antibacterial agent. Those components contain no halogen, so the antibacterial composition can be made halogen-free. The antibacterial composition may be applied to form an antibacterial molding, for example, by molding it together with a resin material or applying it together with a coating agent on a resin molding.

    An object of the present invention is to make it possible that a pyridine antibacterial/antifungal agent is dispersed stably in a liquid for appropriate impartation of the pyridine antibacterial/antifungal agent to fibers, and that when fibers are processed with the agent which is mixed with various other treating agents such as dyes and softeners, there is no negative influences on the process of the fibers for imparting antibacterial/antifungal properties. An antibacterial/antifungal properties-imparting agent contains a pyridine antibacterial/antifungal agent; a modified polysaccharide having reduced hydroxyl groups; and a wetting agent; but does not contain a surfactant. After applying the antibacterial/antifungal properties-imparting agent to fibers, the fibers undergo a heating process.
