Tris(acetonitrile)chloropalladium tetrafluoroborate synthesis, application and structural analysis

Results of the single crystal X-ray diffraction analysis of tris(acetonitrile)chloropalladium tetra-fluoroborate [PdCl(CH3CN)(3)]BF4 are presented in details. It was found that the title compound crystallises in the monoclinic system, in the space group C2/c. The role of charge-assisted C-H center dot center dot center dot F-B interactions in crystal architecture was investigated. Due to its untypical properties the prepared [PdCl(CH3CN)(3)]BF4 has proved to be an excellent palladium source in the synthesis of phosphine-palladium complexes. (C) 2016 Elsevier B.V.
