    A new method was developed to achieve highly selective monochlorination of alpha,omega-dihydridosiloxanes, ((H)Me2SiO-(SiMe2O)(n)-SiMe2(H), n = 0-2; (H)R2Si-O-SiR2(H); R= Me, 'Pr, Ph; 3,5-dihydridooctamethyl tetrasiloxane, Me3SiO-(Si(H)MeO)(2) -SiMe3) with trichloroisocyanuric acid (TCCA).     Silicone containing reactive monomers with hydrophilic end-groups of formula I useful in the manufacture of biocompatible medical devices are disclosed, wherein R 1 is H or CH 3 , a is 0 or 1, p is an integer from 1 to 6, q is an integer from 1 to 3 and for each q, the end groups R 51 , R 52 , R 53 are independently an alkyl, alkyl ether, urethane, trimethylsiloxy group, or a substituted or non-substituted aromatic group and at least one of them has a hydrophilic group Z attached wherein said hydrophilic group Z is selected from the group of poly(ethylene glycol), poly(propylene glycol), poly(ethyl oxazoline), poly(methyl oxazoline), hyaluronic acid, or combinations thereof, preferably to the terminal end of R 51 , R 52 , R 53 , X is O or NR 54 , where R 54 is H or a monovalent alkyl group with 1 to 4 carbons, n is an integer from 1 to 100, R 2 and R 3 is independently an alkyl, alkyl ether, trimethylsiloxy group, or a substituted or non-substituted aromatic group, preferred R 2 and R 3 include methyl, ethyl, trimethylsiloxy and phenyl, L is a divalent linker comprising substituted and unsubstituted alkylene groups having 1-14 carbon atoms, which may be straight or branched, substituted and unsubstituted alkoxy groups having 2-12 carbons, polyethers, oxazolines, substituted and unsubstituted heterocyclic groups.     An absorbent composition including an amino-siloxane is presented. The amino- siloxane includes structure (I): wherein R1 is independently at each occurrence a C1-C6 aliphatic or aromatic radical; R2 is independently at each occurrence a C2-C10 aliphatic or aromatic radical; and R3 is independently at each occurrence a C1-C18 aliphatic or aromatic radical or R4, wherein R4 comprises structure (II): wherein X is independently at each occurrence an electron donating group; and n is at least 1. Methods of reducing an amount of carbon dioxide in a process stream using the absorbent composition are also presented.

Suitable substituents include aryl, amine, ether, amide, hydroxyl groups, combinations thereof and the like. In another embodiment, L comprises a straight or branched alkylene group having 2 to 12 carbons.
