A Pd catalyst system is described that allows very high chemoselective monoarylation on allthreeisomers of dichlorobenzene. Direct application of these commodity chemicals to high-value ligands, anilines, azides, and carbazoles was achieved through this process discovery.

This work reports Suzuki–Miyaura cross‐coupling reactions of arylboronic acid with aryl halide or aryl dibromide mediated by PdCl2 (0.05 mol%) and sodium 4‐(1H‐imidazo[4,5‐f][1,10]phenanthrolin‐1‐yl)butane‐1‐sulfonate (0.05 mol%) at 100 °C in water. Platinum-catalysed diborylation of arynes: synthesis and reaction of 1,2-diborylarenes
Arynes are found to be facilely inserted into bis(pinacolato)diboron by using a platinum–isocyanide catalyst, affording diverse 1,2-diborylarenes, which can be converted into o-terphenyls via Suzuki–Miyaura coupling reaction.
