oxidative coupling of aromatic or aliphatic aldehydes with amines mediated by riboflavin tetraacetate (RFTA), an inexpensive organic photocatalyst, and visiblelight using oxygen as the sole oxidant. The method is based on the oxidative power of an excited flavin catalyst and the relatively low oxidation potential of the hemiaminal formed by amine to aldehyde addition.

palladium-catalyzed processes. The zirconaaziridine-mediated palladium (ZAPd)-catalyzed reaction shows excellent compatibility with various functional groups and diverse heteroaromatic scaffolds. In accord with density functional theory (DFT) calculations, a redox transmetallation between the oxidativeaddition product and the zirconaaziridine is proposed as the crucial elementary step. Thus, cross-coupling selectivity
regioselective synthesis of 1,5-disubstituted tetrazoles has been developed. By means of electrophilic amide activation, and further C–C bond cleavage and rearrangement, a diverse set of functionalized 1,5-DST derivatives were selectively constructed under mild conditions. As showcased in the mechanisms, the chemoselectivity is easily switched by the selection of the starting materials in the reaction.
