    Synthesis of bis[N-(p-aryl)-carbamoyloxy]alkanes as new low-molecular weight organogelators
    摘要:
    A series of bis-carbamate-based low-molecular-weight organogelators were synthesized, and their structure property relationships with respect to their gelation abilities in organic solvents were investigated. The self-aggregation behavior of the thermoreversible organogels was investigated by FTIR, temperature-dependent NMR, and SEM studies. The results revealed that the self-assembly into fibrous structures is driven by hydrogen bonding, it it stacking, and hydrophobic interactions. It was found that para-aryl substitution and the number of methylene units connecting two carbamate groups had a significant influence on gelation. The effect of temperature on gel formation was also investigated for all compounds. The most interesting feature was observed for p-hexyl derivative, which gels at -18 degrees C but not room temperature. Furthermore, thermal properties of the gels were studied by dropping ball experiments and DSC. para-Alkoxyphenyl derivatives were also found to be good organogelators for olive oil, sunflower oil, corn oil, and ethyl laurate, isopropyl myristate, n-butyl palmitate.     Quantitative structure-activity relationships of insecticidal pyrazolines

    AbstractMethyl 3‐(4‐chlorophenyl)‐4‐methyl‐1‐[N‐(4‐substituted pheny1)carba‐moy1]‐2‐pyrazoline‐4‐carboxylates and related compounds were prepared. Their convulsant activity was determined as the minimum dose required to bring about the symptom within 1 h after injection against male adult American cockroaches, Periplaneta americana (L.). Insecticidal activity with metabolic inhibitors for oxidation and hydrolysis was measured 24 h after injection of the test compounds. Variations in each of the activities were analysed by using physicochemical substituent parameters and regression analysis. The findings indicated that the greater the hydrophobicity and the more the electron‐withdrawing property of the substituents, the higher were the activities. Variations in each of the two activities were parabolically related to the STERIMOL width parameter with an optimum value of about zero.

  • Plant Growth-promototing Activities of Mercaptriazinone Derivatives

    Twenty-nine mercaptotriazinone derivatives were synthesized and their plant growth-promoting activities were examined by the rice (Oryza sativa) seedling test in the presence or absence of gibberellic acid (GA3). For high activity in promoting the GA3-induced shoot elongation, an isopropyl or an appropriately substituted phenyl group, a hydrogen atom and a lower alkyl thio group were required in the 1-, 3-and 4-positions, respectively, of the 1,3,5-triazine-2,6-dione structure. In more detailed experiments, 4-methylthio-1-(p-tolyl)-s-triazine-2,6(1H, 3H)-dione, one of the most potent mercaptotriazinones, was found to synergistically promote the GA3-induced elongation of the first and second leaves of rice seedlings. Several mercaptotriazinone derivatives, active or inactive, in the rice seedling test were examined by the radish (Raphanus sativus) leaf disk expansion test, but all of them were completely inactive. Structure-activity relationships of mercaptotriazinone derivatives are discussed in relation to those of the corresponding alkoxytriazinone derivatives.

    A crushing part or component of a gyratory grinder or other crushing, grinding or material-reducing machine is provided with a shock-absorbing backing material (3) which has improved flow properties at low ambient temperatures and is formed of a filled polyurethane resin composition derived from a cold-curing liquid system formed by mixing together (a) a liquid material comprising the polyol component and at least part of the filler in the composition and wherein the polyol component comprises (i) one or more polyether polyols each having at least two hydroxyl groups per molecule, the average number of hydroxyl groups per molecule being more than 2 but not more than 3.3, (ii) one or more polyols each having at least two hydroxyl groups per molecule and containing both ether and ester groups, the average number of hydroxyl groups per molecule being more than 2 but not more than 3.3, and (iii) at least one ester of a long chain hydroxylated fatty acid having at least 10 carbon atoms (including the carboxylic carbon atom); (i) and (ii) being present in amounts such that (i) provides from 1.5 to 3.5 hydroxy groups for each hydroxy group provided by (ii), and (iii) being present in an amount of 2 to 10% by weight of said liquid material, and (b) at least one aromatic polyisocyanate in an amount such that there is an excess of isocyanate groups over hydroxyl groups in the cold-curing system, and said liquid material also includes a quaternary ammonium smectite, as defined, in an amount of from 0.2% to 2% by weight of the liquid material.
