N-phenyl-N′-pyrimidylureaderivatives were synthesized in moderate-to-good yields by one-pot reductivecarbonylation of nitroaromatics using selenium or selenium dioxide as the catalyst, aminopyrimidine derivatives as co-reagents, and carbon monoxide as the carbonyl source. 1H and 13CNMR spectra are reported for several 1,3-pyridylphenyl ureas. Analysis of the spectra yielded the chemical shifts. The variations in the chemical shifts have been discussed in terms of the molecular conformations.
