    A fluorine-containing polyether compound represented by the following general formula : is prepared by reaction of a fluorine-containing dicarboxylic acid fluoride having the following general formula :         FOCCF(CF3)[OCF2CF(CF3)]1OCF2CF2O[CF(CF3)CF2O]mCF(CF3)COF (l+m:30-130) with an aromatic amine represented by the following general formula : XC6H4NHR1(R1:H, alkyl group or phenyl group ; X:I or Br). A curable fluorine-containing polyether composition is formed by compounding the resulting fluorine-containing polyether compound with an aromatic boronic acid ester, an organopalladium compound, and a basic inorganic or organic compound (and an organophosphorus compound). The curable fluorine-containing polyether composition has good processabilities such as an appropriate flowability at room temperature, and can be applied to various molding processes such as injection molding, RIM, etc.

  • A new sequence isomer of AB-polybenzimidazole for high-temperature PEM fuel cells

    AbstractA new sequence isomer of AB‐polybenzimidazole (AB‐PBI) was developed as a candidate for high‐temperature polymer electrolyte membrane fuel cells. A diacid monomer, 2,2′‐bisbenzimidazole‐5,5′‐dicarboxylic acid, was synthesized and polymerized with 3,3′,4,4′‐tetraaminobiphenyl to prepare a polymer that was composed of repeating 2,5‐benzimidazole units. In contrast to previously prepared AB‐PBI, which contains only head‐to‐tail benzimidazole sequences, the new polymer also contains head‐to‐head and tail‐to‐tail benzimidazole sequences. The polymer was prepared in polyphosphoric acid (PPA) and cast into membranes using the sol–gel PPA process. Membranes formed from the new AB‐PBI were found to be mechanically stronger, possessed higher acid doping levels, and showed improved fuel cell performance, when compared to the previously known AB‐PBI. © 2011 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.     [EN] The present invention is relates to the synthesis of predominantly planar heterocyclic organic compound and the manufacture of optical films based on these compounds. Said organic compound has the general structural formula where Het is a predominantly planar heterocyclic molecular system possessing hydrophilic properties; B is a binding group; p is the number in the range from 3 to 8; S is a group providing solubility of the organic compound; m is a number in the range from 0 to 8. Said organic compound is transparent for electromagnetic radiation in the visible spectral range from 400 to 700 nm, and a solution of the compound or a salt thereof is capable of forming a substantially transparent optical layer on a substrate, with the heterocyclic molecular planes oriented predominantly parallel to the substrate surface.
    [FR] La présente invention concerne la synthèse d'un composé organique hétérocyclique principalement planaire et la fabrication de films optiques à base de ces composés. Ledit composé organique a la formule structurale générale dans laquelle Het est un système moléculaire hétérocyclique principalement planaire, possédant des propriétés hydrophiles; B est un groupe de liaison; p est le nombre se situant dans la plage de 3 à 8; S est un groupe assurant la solubilité du composé organique; m est un nombre se situant dans la plage de 0 à 8. Ledit composé organique est transparent pour le rayonnement électromagnétique dans le domaine spectral visible de 400 à 700 nm, et une solution du composé ou d'un sel de celui-ci est capable de former une couche optique sensiblement transparente sur un substrat, les plans moléculaires hétérocycliques étant principalement orientés parallèlement à la surface du substrat.
