A composition at least two different phosphites, one of which is derived from an alkylated m-cresol, wherein the composition is a liquid at ambient conditions. The other phosphites may be derived from alkylated cresol, alkylated phenol or other alkylated hydroxyaryl compounds. The cresol may be mono-alkylated or di-alkylated with a C1-C18 alkyl group.

2H-Benzotriazole UV absorbers substituted at the 3-position and/or the 5-position of the phenyl ring by a phenyl moiety which is substituted by a heteroatom are particularly photostable in automotive coatings, and are of low color and exhibit low volatility in thermoplastic compositions.
The antioxidative activities of nineteen compounds of seven series of alkylidene- and benzylidenebisphenols were evaluated by means of an oxygen-absorption method at 60 °C for tetralin. The electrochemical oxidation potentials determined using linear-sweep voltammetry and the 13C NMR chemical shifts (δ) of these compounds were obtained. These data were associated with the antioxidative activities.

The invention provides a method for converting a less active or slower to initiate system to a higher activity system so that at the end of a polymerization the most active species is present in the system. The invention generally relates to a process for converting a less active or slower to initiate catalyst system to a higher activity catalyst system wherein the process comprises contacting a protected N-heterocyclic carbene with a metathesis catalyst and an olefin in the presence of energy. One of the benefits of the invention is that the amount of catalyst required is less than or lowered in the presence of the protected N-heterocyclic carbene as compared to the amount of catalyst required in the absence of the protected N-heterocyclic carbene. The protected N-heterocyclic carbene can be unsaturated or saturated. In addition, the invention describes novel ruthenium initiators and methods of making the same.
