Reaction of B-methoxydialkylboranes with lithium aluminum hydride in the presence of olefins. A new and general synthesis of acyclic and cyclic mixed trialkylboranes and their conversion into the corresponding trialkylcarbinols via carbonylation-oxidation
The reaction of alkynyllithium reagents with methyl dialkylborinates in tetrahydrofuran proceeds readily to form lithiummethyl alkynyldialkylborinates. Reaction of this ”rate“ complex with 1.3 equivalent of boron trifluoride diethyl etherate gives the alkynyldialkylboranes in essentially quantitative yield.
