    A cured matter obtained by polymerizing and curing a polymerizable composition comprising a compound having at least one episulfide in a molecule is reduced in an odor by adding a perfume to the polymerizable composition comprising the compound having at least one episulfide in a molecule. A cloudiness of the lens is removed by raising a purity of sulfur to 98% or more. A reduction in a chlorine content of the sulfur compound described above to 0.1% by weight or less elevates an oxidation resistance and a light fastness of the high refractive index optical material and improves a color tone thereof. An optical product having a high refractive index and a high-degree transparency is provided by subjecting the composition in advance to deaerating treatment at 0 to 100° C. for one minute to 24 hours under a reduced pressure of 0.001 to 50 torr.

    A thermoplastic synthetic resin composition having a flexural modulus as defined in JIS K7203 of from 500 to 15,000 kg/cm² is obtained by partial crosslinking upon melt kneading a mixture of by weight: (A) from 20 to 60 parts of a polyamide resin; and (B) from 80 to 40 parts of an ethylene copolymer comprising the units (a) 40 to 90% of ethylene, (b) 5 to 60% of an α,β-unsaturated carboxylic acid alkyl ester, and (c) from 0.3 to 10% of maleic anhydride or a partially ionized maleic anhydride; with (C) from 0.01 to 20 parts, based on 100 parts by weight of the sum of the components (A) and (B), of a polyfunctional compound containing in its molecule at least two functional groups, e.g. an amino, epoxy, dihydrooxazolyl, carboxyl, carboxylic anhydride or hydroxyl group, which are reactive to a carboxyl, carboxylic anhydride or amino group. The composition is moldable and the excellent moldings have impact strength at low temperatures, low heat distortion, and high tensile strength at break and have a good balance between mechanical properties and thermal properties.

    A polyamide resin composition is produced by melt kneading (A) 20 to 60 parts of a polyamide resin and (B) 40 to 80 parts of an ethylene copolymer comprising (a) 40 to 90 wt% of an ethylene unit, (b) 5 to 60 wt% of an α,β-unsaturated carboxylic acid alkyl ester unit and (c) 0.3 to 10 wt% of a maleic anhydride unit to form a partially crosslinked composition (I) and adding 50 to 1,000 parts by weight of a polyamide resin to 100 parts by weight of the composition (I) and melt kneading the resulting mixture. The resultant composition is moldable and has excellent impact resistance. Preferably to the composition (I) is added a poly­functional compound which reacts with (B) and (C) and causes cross-linking thereof in the kneading.

    Disclosed is a method for producing a thermoplastic resin composition which can be easily molded into articles having good balance in properties and good appearance. Said method comprises melt-kneading (A) 60-97 parts by weight of a saturated polyester resin and (B) 40-3 parts by weight of an epoxy group-containing ethylene copolymer and then melt-kneading the resulting composition with (C) 0.01-20 parts by weight of a poly­functional compound containing in one molecule at least two functional groups having reactivity with epoxy group, carboxyl group or hydroxyl group to carry out partial crosslinking reaction.

    A thermoplastic elastomer composition which is excellent in balance of properties such as mechanical properties and thermal properties and in appearance is prepared by melt-kneading (A) 20-58 parts by weight of a saturated polyester resin and (B) 42-80 parts by weight of an epoxy group-containing ethylene copolymer and then melt-kneading 100 parts by weight of the resulting composition with (C) 0.01-20 parts by weight of a polyfunctional compound containing in one molecule at least two functional groups selected from an amino group, a carboxylic acid anhydride group, a hydroxyl group and group wherein both X and Y are oxygen atoms or sulfur aroms, or either X or Y is an oxygen atom and another is a sulfur atom, or (D) 0.01-9 parts by weight of a polyfunctional compound having in one molecule at least two carboxyl groups or both at least one carboxyl group and at least one functional group selected from an amino group, a carboxylic acid anhydride group, a hydroxyl group and the group wherein X and Y are defined above.
