    It is shown that reaction of aryl, benzyl, alkyl and functionalised alkyl acrylic esters with benzaldehyde, in the presence of 1,4-diazabicyclo[2.2.2] octane, strongly depends upon the electronic and steric effects of the ester part. This influence is also observed in condensation of furfuraldehyde. Moreover, for the first time, it is shown that the overall condensation is equilibrated.

    A process for producing a metal film-coated material, the process including: (a1) forming, on a substrate, a polymer layer formed from a polymer which has a functional group capable of interacting with a plating catalyst or a precursor thereof, and is directly chemically bonded to the substrate;(a2) providing a plating catalyst or a precursor thereof to the polymer layer; and (a3) performing plating with respect to the plating catalyst or a precursor thereof. The polymer layer satisfies all of the following requirements (1) to (4): (1) the saturated water absorption coefficient of the polymer layer as measured in an environment of temperature of 25°C and relative humidity of 50 % is 0.01 to 10% by mass; (2) the saturated water absorption coefficient of the polymer layer as measured in an environment of temperature of 25°C and relative humidity of 95 % is 0.05 to 20% by mass; (3) the water absorption coefficient of the polymer layer as measured after 1 hour of immersion in boiling water at 100°C is 0.1 to 30% by mass; and (4) the surface contact angle of the polymer layer as measured after dropping 5 µL of distilled water thereonto and leaving to stand for 15 seconds in an environment of temperature of 25°C and relative humidity of 50 % is 50 to 150 degrees.

The invention also provides a conductive substance-adsorbing resin film including at least two resin layers, wherein at least one of the resin layers is an adsorbing resin layer having a property of adsorbing a conductive substance or a metal. This conductive substance-adsorbing resin film is allowed to adsorb a metal and subjected to plating, whereby a metal layer-coated resin film can be obtained.

    A problem to be solved by the present invention is to provide a moisture-permeable film which is excellent in moisture permeability and water swelling resistance. The present invention relates to a moisture-permeable film formed by a composition containing polyurethane (A) and a hydrophilic acrylic polymer (B). The moisture-permeable film of the present invention is excellent in the moisture permeability and the water swelling resistance. Accordingly, the moisture-permeable film of the present invention can be preferably used as the moisture-permeable film used in producing moisture-permeable waterproof cloth for clothing, medical, and hygiene; and synthetic leather. The hydrophilic acrylic polymer (B) is preferably a polymer of a hydrophilic acrylic monomer (b1) containing an acrylic monomer (b1-1) having an amide group and an acrylic monomer (b1-2) having an oxyethylene group.

    The present invention relates to a method for producing a semi-IPN composite, the method including polymerizing a hydrophilic monofunctional acrylate (b1) and a polyfunctional acrylate (b2) in a solution of a polyurethane (A) prepared using an aromatic polyisocyanate as a raw material. The present invention also relates to a method for producing a moisture-permeable film that is obtained by drying the semi-IPN composite obtained by the above production method. One object of the present invention is to provide a method for producing a semi-IPN composite excellent in moisture permeability, water-swelling resistance, and stain resistance. The semi-INP composite obtained by the production method of the present invention is excellent in moisture permeability, water-swelling resistance, and stain resistance. Therefore, the semi-IPN composite can be preferably used for moisture-permeable waterproof fabrics for clothing, medical, and sanitary use and for skin and topcoat layers of synthetic leathers.
