The present invention provides a method of biological treatment for purifying an environmental pollutant utilizing microorganisms, wherein the pollutant is efficiently concentrated to a high concentration but exerts substantially no effect on the biological activity of the microorganisms used to biodegrade the pollutant, so that the pollutant are purified (assimilated or degraded) effectively. The present invention also provides a microbial treatment agent useful for the purification treatment of an environmental pollutant. Specifically stated, the method for purification treatment of the present invention can be carried out by making an environmental pollutant and microorganisms to coexist with each other as incorporated in a microorganism-produced polymer.
