Buchwald–Hartwig cross-coupling reactions of stericallydemanding aryl chlorides with sterically hindered and deactivated aniline derivatives. This catalyst also proved efficient in Suzuki–Miyaura reactions, thus allowing the preparation of tetra-ortho-substitutedbiaryls. The Kumada–Corriu coupling has also been investigated using this palladium N-heterocyclic carbene (NHC) catalyst.

A catalyst system for the preparation of biaryls containing four ortho substituents via Suzuki coupling is described. The combination of a catalytic quantity of Pd2(dba)3 with either an electron-rich biarylphosphine or DPEPhos is effective using a wide range of substrates. The X-ray crystal structure of (dba)Pd(2-(9-phenanthryl)phenyl-dicyclohexylphosphine), in which the Pd is coordinated to the 9

Halide-bridged 1- and 2-methylnaphthyl palladium dimers are presented as convenient, yet highly efficient palladium sources for cross-coupling catalysis. The bench-stable complexes smoothly react with various ligands yielding monoligated palladium precatalysts. These display record-setting activity in various catalytic reactions, clearly beyond that achievable by ligand screening alone.
Nap-Phos, representing a new naphthyl-phenyl biaryl-type phosphine ligand class and available by a short synthesis (4 steps, 71% overall yield), effectively catalyzes the Suzuki-Miyaura (including highly hindered cases), hydrodehalogenation, and Heck reactions.

6‐di(3‐pentyl)phenyl)imidazol‐2‐ylidene) NHCs are the simplest and already known congeners. The synthetic route was successfully used for the preparation of three members of the ITent family: IPent (N,N′‐bis(2,6‐di(3‐pentyl)phenyl)imidazol‐2‐ylidene), IHept (N,N′‐bis(2,6‐di(4‐heptyl)phenyl)imidazol‐2‐ylidene) and INon (N,N′‐bis(2,6‐di(5‐nonyl)phenyl)imidazol‐2‐ylidene).
