The syntheses of compounds of the types H2N(CH2)3OB(Ph)(OSiR3')[R3' = Me3 (1), Me2Ph (2), McPh2 (3), Ph3 (4)] and H2N(CH2)3OB(Bu)(OSiR3') [R3' = Me2Ph (5), MePh2 (6), Ph3 (7)] arc reported. The structure of 2 was determined by X-ray crystallography. There are two independent molecules in the unit cell. Both molecules contain tetrahedral BCNO2- and SiC3O- units joined by B-O-Si bridges with angles of 145.7(3)-degrees and 150.5(3)-degrees, respectively. In solution compounds 1-7 are involved in intramolecular equilibrium reactions between four- and three-coordinate boron species with the latter formed by scission of the B-N bond.
