The dichloromethyl peroxyl radical (CHCl2OO•) and its deuterated analog formed in the reaction of the corresponding dichloromethyl radicals with O2 were studied by matrix IR spectroscopy. Dichloromethyl radicals are generated by the pyrolysis of the corresponding dichloromethyl iodides.
