    抗菌剂相对未开发的潜在靶标是必需氨基酸的生物合成。在NAD(P)H依赖性反应中将天冬氨酸半醛还原为高丝氨酸的高丝氨酸脱氢酶是从Asp生物合成Met,Thr和Ile所需的此类靶标之一。我们报告了酵母高丝氨酸脱氢酶的小分子筛查,该酶已鉴定出该类酶的新型酚类抑制剂。与高丝氨酸脱氢酶复合的抑制剂之一的X射线晶体结构分析表明,这些分子在活性位点的氨基酸结合区域结合,酚羟基与Gly175的主链酰胺特异性相互作用。

    Interaction of ortho-tert-butylphenol with sulfur monochloride in dimethylformamide leads to an increase in the fraction of phenol di- and polysulfides in the product. Liquid chromato-mass-spectrometry was used to determine the composition of the main groups of compounds contained in the mixture. A number of its components was isolated and produced by counter synthesis.

    The invention provides a colour change composition containing an electron donating organic colouring compound, an electron accepting compound and a compound of formula (I): wherein E is an ester linkage O-CO or -CO2, R is independently selected from an optionally substituted linear or branched alkyl group, alkenyl cycloalkyl group, alkenyl group, alkoxy group, aryl and alkylene aryl group having from 6 to 22 carbon atoms; Y1 Y2 X1 and X2 are independently selected from hydrogen, R', -OR' and halogen; wherein R' is independently selected from an optionally substituted linear or branched alkyl group, alkenyl group, alkoxy group, aryl group and an alkylene aryl group; having from 5 to 22 carbon atoms; r and p each represent and integer from 0 to 3. The compound of formula (I) and compositions of the invention are useful in providing a colour change effect, in memory compositions and visual indicators, particularly in security and healthcare applications.

The phenol-free phosphites are obtained by reacting biphenol, and phosphorous derivatives with higher aliphatic alcohol via condensation and trans-esterification. The phenol-free phosphites of the present invention can be used as a heat stabilizer for resin so as to enhance the heat resistance of the resin during processing at high temperatures.

    Provided is a modified ethylene-vinyl alcohol copolymer (C) having an ethylen content of 5 to 55 mol %, which contains a specific structural unit (I) in an amount of 0.3 to 40 mol % and may be obtained by reacting an ethylene-vinyl alcohol copolymer (A) with a monofunctional epoxy compound (B) having a molecular weight of not more than 500. This can be produced by a method for producing the modified ethylene-vinyl alcohol copolymer (C) which comprises melting and kneading an ethylene-vinyl alcohol copolymer (A) with a monofunctional epoxy compound (B) in an extruder. The modified ethylene-vinyl alcohol copolymer (C) is superior to a unmodified ethylene-vinyl alcohol copolymer (A) in transparency, stretchability, flexibility and flexing resistance due to the specific structural unit (I) incorporated therein, and thus, can be used as a barrier material in various applications requiring the above performance capabilities.

    Provided is a resin composition comprising 1-99% by weight of a modified ethylene-vinyl alcohol copolymer (C) having an ethylene content of 5-55 mol %, which contains a specific structural unit (I) in an amount of 0.3-40 mol % and can be obtained by reacting an ethylene-vinyl alcohol copolymer (A) with a monofunctional epoxy compound (B) having a molecular weight of not more than 500, and 1-99% by weight of a thermoplastic resin (T 1 ) other than (C). Moreover, a multilayer structure in which the resin composition and a thermoplastic resin (T 2 ) are laminated is also provided. Thus, a resin composition superior in barrier properties, transparency, stretchability, flexibility, flexing resistance and interlayer adhesiveness and various kinds of molded articles made thereof are provided.

    An oxygen absorption resin composition is provided that comprises a thermoplastic resin (A) having carbon-carbon double bonds substantially in its main chain and a transition metal salt (B). If necessary, the composition further comprises a gas barrier resin (C), a compatibilizer (D) and the like. The composition has excellent oxygen absorption properties, and when the composition is employed, generation of odorous substances derived from the decomposition of resins as a result of oxygen absorption can be suppressed.
