Intermolecular aminotrifluoromethylation of alkenes catalyzed by [Ru(bpy)3]2+ under visible light irradiation has been explored. The present photocatalytic protocol achieves highlyefficient and regioselectivedifunctionalization of C═Cbonds, leading to a variety of β-trifluoromethylamines. The reaction is applied to “late-stage aminotrifluoromethylation” of steroid and amino acid scaffolds.
A novel vicinal aminotrifluoromethylation of alkenes using CF3SO2Na as a trifluoromethyl precursor and acetonitrile as an N-nucleophile has been achieved by an electrooxidative strategy. The present electrochemical protocol achieves efficient and highly regioselective difunctionalization of CC bonds under metal-free and external oxidant-free electrolysis conditions, leading to a series of β-trifluoromethylamine

Efforts to develop alternatives to triflicanhydride (Tf2O) as a trifluoromethylation reagent continue due to its limitations, including volatility, corrosiveness, and moisture sensitivity. Described herein is the use of a trifluoromethylsulfonylpyridinium salt (TFSP), easily obtained by a one-step reaction of Tf2O with 4-dimethylaminopyridine, as a reagent for the trifluoromethylative difunctionalization

Fe-TPY (TPY = 4′-(4-carboxyphenyl)[2,2′:6′,2′′-terpyridine]-5,5′′-dicarboxylate) ligands. With the organic dye EY as an efficient photosensitizer and TPY-Fe(OTf)2 as the catalytic center, Hf-EY-Fe efficiently catalyzes aminotrifluoromethylation, hydroxytrifluoromethylation, and chlorotrifluoromethylation of alkenes. Hf-EY-Fe also catalyzes the synthesis of CF3-substituted derivatives of large bioactive
