A new cyclic trithioanhydride, 2,5-bis(t-butylthio)thiophene-3,4-trithioanhydride (2), was formed by the reactions of 1,3,4,6-tetrakis(t-butylthio)thieno[3,4-c]thiophene (1) with electron acceptors such as chloranil, tetracyanoethylene (TCNE), and 2,3,5,6-dichlorodicyanobenzoquinone (DDQ), and the structure of (2) was determined by X-ray diffraction.
