(R)-1,3-2H2-Prop-2-yn-1-ol [(R)-2] was obtained by enzymatic deuteration of prop-2-yn-1-ol. Methoxymethylation and thermal rearrangement of (R)-2 gave (S)-(1,3-2H2)allene (S)-1, while reaction of [] with MeOC2H2Cl followed by thermolysis afforded (R)-1, the lightest chiral molecules composed of stable elements.
