nzoic acid (4-PPBAH) ligands originated from in situ transformation of the 4-BICN and 4-PPCN ligands relying on the hydrolysis of cyano to carboxyl groups, coordinating with metal centers to result in diverse metal–organic fragments and linking modes of PMo12 or SiMo12 polyoxoanions. have been prepared which contain a chelating pyrazolyl-pyridine group with a pendant aromaticnitrile (in L1, a benzonitrile; in L2, a naphthonitrile). These ligands react with Ag(I) salts to give a range of infinite coordination networks or dimeric ‘boxes’ in which the pyrazolyl-pyridine chelates and the aromaticnitrile groups both participate in coordination to Ag(I) ions. In contrast, L1 and L2 form
