    Analogues of the novel inhibitor of the PI3-K/PKB pathway, 2-[5-(2-chloroethyl)-2-acetoxy-benzyl]-4-(2-chloroethyl)-phenyl acetate (E1), have been prepared and preliminary SAR performed. This established that at least one of the chloroethyl para-substituents could be removed or modified and the ability to inhibit PKB/Akt activation retained. Synthetic methodologies were then developed to methylene-linked aryl acetates for use as molecular probes to identify the target of compound E1. (C) 2010 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.

    A bis(aminophenol) derivative having substituents at positions adjacent to two amino groups is provided. The bis(aminophenol) derivative is used as a raw material of a polyamide resin for a positive-tone photosensitive resin composition. A polyamide resin comprising bis(aminophenol) and a structure derived from a carboxylic acid is also provided, the bis(aminophenol) having substituents at positions adjacent to the two amino groups. A positive-tone photosensitive resin composition comprising a polybenzooxazole precursor resin, exhibiting high sensitivity and a high cyclization rate even when cured at a low temperature is provided. Also provided is a positive-tone photosensitive resin composition comprising a polyamide resin having an imide structure, an imide precursor structure, or an amide acid ester structure. The composition exhibits high sensitivity and produces a cured product having low water absorption even when cured at a low temperature.

    A polyimide resin of the present invention contains a repeating unit represented by the formula (1). X1 is a tetravalent organic group having at least one ring structure, and each two of four carbonyl groups bonded to X1 form a pair and, together with X1 and a nitrogen atom, form a five-membered ring. R2 is a hydrogen, an alkyl group having 1-9 carbon atoms, or an alkoxy group having 1-10 carbon atoms. Y is a divalent organic group having a phenolic hydroxyl group. The polyimide resin of the present invention can be practically used as a thermosetting resin composition or a positive type photosensitive resin composition.

    The object of the present invention is to provide a novel developer capable or realizing a thermal recording material superior in preservation stability (i.e., heat resistance, moisture resistance) of color images and non-image areas, while satisfying the recent request for high sensitivity, and a thermal recording material using the developer. The developer for a thermal recording material of the present invention is characterized in that it consists of a composition containing, of condensates represented by the formula (I): wherein R is a halogen atom, a hydroxyl group, an alkyl group having 1 to 5 carbon atoms, an alkoxyl group having 1 to 5 carbon atoms, a cyano group, a nitro group, an aryl group or an aralkyl group, R in the number of m may be the same or different and m is an integer of 0-3, and n is an integer of 0-3, a condensate having two cores wherein n=0 as a main component, and at least one kind of condensate of the formula wherein n=1-3, and that a thermal recording material obtained using this developer shows high sensitivity, high dynamic color density, and superior preservation stability.
