[(η5-C7H8-CH2PPh3)Mn(CO)3]ClO4 (2) has been prepared by the reaction of [(η5-C7H8-CH2PPh3)Mn(CO)3]ClO4 (1) with CH2PPh3. Deprotonation of 2 generated presumably [(η5- C7H8-CH2PPh3)Mn(CO)3] (3), which reacts with several kinds of aldehydes RCHO to yield olefin-containing complexes [(η5- C7H8-CHCHR)Mn(CO)3] (4) (RMe, Et, CHCH2, Ph,C6H4CH3-p, C6H4NO2-p, C6H4OMe-p).
