and deoxybenzoin react with dilute fluorine to produce intermediate diazo compounds which react further with the fluorine or nascent hydrogen fluoride to give geminal difluoro or monofluoro derivatives respectively of the starting hydrazones. The fluorination procedure has been applied to two biological systems, 1 and 2, with their conversion to monofluoro compounds 3 and 4.
