    Thermal cross-link behavior of an amorphous poly (para-arylene sulfide sulfone amide)
    摘要:
    Cross-link behavior of an amorphous poly (para-arylene sulfide sulfone amide) synthesized via low temperature solution polycondensation was observed for the first time, when the polymer was subject to a series of thermal curing at 260 degrees C in air condition. The formation of cross-link network was demonstrated by the DSC and TGA results that T-g of the polymer enhanced from 259.17 degrees C to 268.89 degrees C, and the 1% weight loss temperature increased remarkably from 243.75 degrees C to 345.87 degrees C. EPR analysis further suggested that two kinds of free radicals, CO center dot and C-center dot, induced by thermal curing were responsible for this cross-link behavior. According to FT-IR spectrum, the origin of these free radicals was confirmed as amide C=O group in the polymer backbone. The cross-linking type was attributed to conventional radical cross-link reaction and the cross-link mechanism was discussed in detail subsequently. (C) 2011 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.

    Aromatic polythioetheramides have repeating units represented by one or both of the following formulae and wherein X is C1-C10 divalent hydrocarbon, -0-, -S-, - SO-, - SO2- or -CO-; a is 0 or 1; Y is C,-C20 alkyl, C3-C20 cycloalkyl, C6-C20 aralkyl, C6-C20 aryl, halogen or nitro; b, c, e and f, 0 to 4; d, 0-20 and Ar is a C6-C30 aromatic ring. Repeating units derived from C6-C30 aromatic diamines may replace up to 50 mol% of the above thioetheramide units, and from 51 to 99 mol% when Ar is isophthalyl or terephthalyl. The polymers have excellent moldability, flame retardance, heat resistance and chemical resistance, and are suitable for use as engineering plastics.

    An aromatic polythioetherimide is disclosed, which comprises at least 50 mol% of a repeating unit represented by formula (I): wherein Ar is as defined in the specification, with the total of the repeating unit(s) being 100 mol%. The polythioetherimide has an excellent balance between heat resistance and mechanical properties as well as improved moldability.
