    Aromatic polyether having a recurring unit as represented by following general formula [I]: The aromatic polyethers are excellent in mechanical properties and solvent resistance and high in glass transition temperature as well as strong in fluorescence generated. They are useful as engineering resins and suitable for use with materials for parts and display materials applicable to the electric and electronic, mechanical field, and automobile fields. The fluorescent resin compositions made of the aromatic polyethers are likewise excellent in thermal resistance and easy in manufacturing. Furthermore, they have their own ability of generating fluorescence, causing no bleeding of a fluorescent substance added. They are also extremely useful industrially as materials for parts and display materials for use in the electric, electronic, mechanical, optic, automobile and other fields as well as decorative materials and molding materials for toys.

    A flame-retardant polybutylene terephthalate resin composition suitable for a material of a contact-bearing electrical part which generates an organic gas and a halogenous corrosive gas each in a reduced amount and therefore hardly corrodes the metal constituting the contact even after prolonged use, which comprises (A) 100 parts by weight of a polybutylene terephthalate resin having an intrinsic viscosity of 0.75 to 1.5 dL/g, (B) 1 to 50 parts by weight of a halogenated phenoxy compound composed of repeating units represented by the general formula (1) and having a number-average degree of polymerisation of 6 to 30: wherein X represents a bromine or chlorine atom; and Y represents alkylene having 1 to 10 carbon atoms, alkylidene, cycloalkane, carbonyl, -O-, -S- or -SO2-, (C) 0.1 to 30 parts by weight of an antimony compound containing antimony pentoxide and an alkali metal oxide as constituents, (D) 0.01 to 10 parts by weight of a fatty acid ester of a polyhydric alcohol, and (E) 0 to 150 parts by weight of a filler.

    The flame retarded polyester resin composition of this invention comprises (A) 10-90% by weight of a polycarbonate, (B) 10-90% by weight of a thermoplastic polyester, 0-40% by weight of an impact modifier, and based on 100 parts by weight of (A), (B) and (C) combined, (D) 1 to 50 parts by weight of a certain halogenated phenoxy resin and (E) 0-30 parts by weight of an antimony compound. The resin composition of the invention is satisfactory in moldability and provides flame-retarded moldings having very satisfactory impact resistance, heat distortion resistance, flexural modulus, weather resistance and chemical resistance.
