  The invention is concerned with antioxidants. A new compound, N-(2-amino-3-ethyl-α-methylbenzylidene)-2,6-diethylaniline, is provided which is effective for inhibiting oxidative deterioration of organic materials, e.g. lubricating oils. The invention encompasses the preparation of the compound. Also provided are mixtures of the said compound with other aromatic amine compounds, such additive mixtures also being effective as antioxidants. The invention also includes the antioxidant use of the said compound, of the additive mixtures and of certain at- kylated anilines, and organic materials when afforded antioxidant protection thereby.
