mechanochemical route to ketone–oxime conversions has been established for a broad range of ketones via a simple mortar–pestle grinding method. The relativereactivity of aldehydes vs. ketones under these conditions has also been explored, along with an examination of the possible connection between reactivity and electronic substituent effects.
A new method for the preparation of Δ<sup>2</sup>-isoxazolin-5-ones from the oximes of ketones having an α-hydrogen atom

Certain oximes having an α-hydrogen atom were treated with n-butyl-lithium (2 mol.equiv.) to give the 1,4-dianions, which were carbonated and acid-cyclized to give the Δ2-isoxazolin-5-ones.
The dioximes of 1,3- and 1,4-diacetylbenzene readily undergo regioselective double cyclopalladation on reaction with lithium tetrachloropalladate. 1,5-Bis(dimethylamino)naphthalene has been singly and doubly cyclopalladated; attempts to prepare heterodicyclometallated derivatives of this ligand were not successful. An X-ray crystal structure of the singly cyclometallated Pd(acac) complex of 1,5-bis(dimethylamino)naphthalene has been determined.
