An efficient one-pot synthesis of 2,5-disubstituted thiophenes from 1-propynylamines or allenic amines and thiocarbonyl compounds

Metallation of the ynamine CH3CCNEt2 or the allenic amines H2CCCHNR2 (R = CH3 or C2H5) with Schlosser's reagent BuLi · t-BuOK, followed by reaction with a thiocarbonyl compound XCSSCH3 (X = Me2N, Et2N, CH3S, t-Bu, O-t-Bu, Ph or 2-thienyl) and then addition of water, gives 2,5-disubstituted thiophenes (with Me2N or Et2N and X as substituents) in good yields.
