New types of molecules, tetrasilylsilanes with the arms composed of oligothienylsilylvinyl units, were prepared by the platinum-catalyzed hydrosilation reactions. UV–Vis absorption and fluorescence properties of these molecules have been investigated. Polymer 9 showed good heat resistance against Td10 (10% weight loss temperature) at 402 °C even in air.
effect on the local conformation around the silicon atom. The differences in the small energetic barriers for each of the conformational states may be amplified by extending the distance of the folding structure, which results in perturbing the conformation of the polymers. These results suggest that the electronic interactions between adjacent donor–acceptor pairs in these copolymers are controlled by
the improvement of the optical properties. M4TC and P4TC exhibited the fluorescence wavelength around 500 nm and the highest fluorescence quantum yield of the present series of poly(tetramethylsilarylenesiloxane) derivatives, i.e., 0.40, plausibly because the free rotation between thiophene rings in oligothiophene inhibited by the cardo-structures and the bulky diphenyl groups at 4-position of cyclopentadithiophene
In this paper, we report the synthesis of partially conjugated polymers with a silyl-group-substituted oligothiophene and a short alkyl chain in the main chain by hydrosilylation polymerization and describe their optical properties such as luminescence and refractive index. The obtained polymers are found to have good solubility and processability. Moreover, the high steric hindrance of the silyl-group can inhibit the pi-pi interaction and intermolecular aggregation of the polymers. Hence, the emission of the obtained polymers was similar to that of the corresponding silyl-group-substituted oligothiophene. The polymers exhibit intense light blue fluorescence under UV irradiation and a high refractive index in the visible light region. (C) 2010 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.

locally excited (LE) to the intramolecular chargetransfer (ICT) state. The rectangularbisterthiophenesiloxanes (DSiTh) was successfully prepared by π-π-stacking-aided hydrogen-bonding interactions. Cyclization-induced ICT in DSiTh could be observed, which was confirmed by absorption spectra, fluorescence spectra, and quantum chemistry analysis. The cyclization produces a strong intramolecular electron
