  The reaction of N-amino-N ''-nitroguanidine with carboxylic acid chlorides at room temperature gave the corresponding N-(N ''-nitroguanidino)carboxamides which underwent cyclization on heating in aqueous alkali to affordN-nitro-1,2,4-triazol-3-imines. The latter were also synthesized in a one-pot fashion. The products were characterized by H-1 and C-13-H-1}, IR, and UV spectra.
